Antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and decoction from Avicennia alba Blume growing in the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, Vietnam

This study was conducted to find out the antibacterial ability of a folk medicinal plant in Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, Avicennia alba Blume. Leaf powder A. derived from 3 different locations Reserve used make ethanol extracts and decoctions. Methods evaluate included agar well diffusion, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) Bactericidal (MBC). The results showed that extract Dan Xay site resistant 6 tested bacterial strains including Bacillus cereus, subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli. Most decoction samples had bacteriostatic bactericidal properties with MBC/MIC rates ranging 1.43 10.0.
